WHAT IS ABA?
ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. In the field of ABA, treatment is devoted in developing procedures that produce observable changes in behavior. Teaching procedures are broken down into simple steps which are presented systematically based on the needs of the individual. Skills are sometimes taught by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) and overseen by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). In some cases, BCBA's will provide services without the assistance of an RBT. ABA is taught in the natural environment of the individual. For example, ABA could be implemented at home, job site, restaurant, store, or any other environment the individual would needs services, or taught in a controlled setting, such as a clinic or center. ABA is research (evidence) based. It is the most effective form of treatment for Autism which procedures have passed scientific tests of its usefulness, quality, and effectiveness.
